Sarah Clarke is the Director of Operations at the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri. She works closely with Gateway Arch National Park’s partners to ensure a high quality experience for the monument’s 2.5 million annual visitors. Sarah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, with an emphasis on Leisure Service Management, from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and has accumulated over 16 years of management experience.

At the Gateway Arch, Sarah is responsible for the safe and profitable operation of the Gateway Arch Transportation System that takes about 900,000 annual visitors to the top of the Gateway Arch. Her team is instrumental in the development of visitor service programs and for the training of 125 professional full-time, part-time and seasonal employees. Sarah also collaborates closely with the Gateway Arch’s marketing and communication team to ensure a seamless visitor experience from the moment visitors begin planning their trip to the Gateway Arch until the conclusion of their visit.

She was honored by the Saint Louis Attractions Association in 2019 by receiving the Spirit of St. Louis Individual Award, which is given annually to honor an individual who has gone the extra mile and put forth exemplary effort in helping to further the goals, objectives and spirit of the tourism and hospitality industry. Beginning in 2020, Sarah will serve on the Attractions and Amusement Parks constituency committee for the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA).
