Kate is a social and behavioral researcher with over 25 years of academic and professional experience in human factors and product design. Kate is a Director of User Experience at World Wide Technology, where she consults with clients and Agile software delivery teams on process leadership and team mentorship in all aspects of user-centered design, research, and usability testing.
Kate was formerly a Vice President of Product Development and Senior Director of User Experience Research & Design at Mastercard Worldwide, working for over 12 years on innovations in retail, eCommerce, transportation, electronic payments, and fintech. Previously, Kate was a co-founder and human factors research strategist at Human-Centered Strategies, a consultancy that helps electronic medical device manufacturers meet FDA/CDRH human factors safety and quality regulations, and has published articles on human factors and medical device safety (under her maiden name, M. Kathryn Peterson). Kate’s early consulting and human factors career came from her time working in New York for Mitchell Madison Group, a strategy and management consulting firm, where she worked for 4 years as an engagement manager on workforce automation and industrial/organizational design. Kate has her undergraduate degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison, and completed her Masters and PhD coursework and field research in social theory and history at The New School in New York. She speaks French fluently and lives in Saint Louis, Missouri. |
